Surrendering to the Alpha (Ashwood Falls #3 ) by Lia Davis Blog Tour Stop

Surrendering to the Alpha
Ashwood Falls #3
By Lia Davis

She's given up hope of peace, yet the Alpha's touch offers promises too hard to run from.

Blurb:

Ashwood Falls’ leopard Alpha, Keegan Andrews holds onto the pain of his deceased mate as his own personal hell—a reminder that not all things are what they seem. The Pack Scribe, Addyson Lewis is no exception. She’s intrigued him like no other since the day she stumbled into Ashwood territory about twenty-five years ago. When he discovers that just being near her calms the storm inside him, he can’t stay away even if it means exposing her to the evil she tried to escape.

Over a hundred years of psychological torture at the hands of the rogue Onyx Pack has left Addyson with no memories of her life before captivity and with the inability to control her psychometric nature. Anything or anyone she touches sends her into their darkest past and secrets, causing her pain she wouldn’t wish on anyone. Without the ability to control it, she’s forced to deny her leopard the connection she craves from the Pack that welcomed her with love and without judgment. That is, until the day Keegan involuntarily touches her bare skin and she finds the peace she’d craved for far too long.

Warning: Contains one sexy alpha leopard who craves the most decadent of dreams, a hidden treasure contained within a spunky woman, and the ability to create a mating bond that’s the most explosive yet.

My Review

5 of 5 Surrendering to the Alpha

Can I first say that Lia Davis is a fantastic author that takes you on a paranormal ride of a life time. With each new story we get pieces of each character that we are longing for. With every read I get so excited because I know I am going to get questions answered that I long for and Lia does not disappoint. In Surrendering to the Alpha we get Addyson and Keegan's story and oh what a stroy it is. I loved loved every minute of it. Her other stories were super steamy and had off the chart sex scenes but what I loved about Surrendering to the Alpha was how she toned it down and created such a love story I cried because I could picture myself there watching Addy and Keegan's love unfold.

Keegan has lost his mate and he has never been the same since then. He has lived in a fog because he just can't seem to get it together. But when a beautiful girl comes to town he changes. Every time he is near her he feels this sense of calm and he wants it all the time but she is very cautious and does not let anyone near her or touch her.But keegan is determined to get to know her and gives her the space and time she needs. Then one day by accident he touches Addy and the sparks fly between them and they know they were meant for each other.

Addyson has fled the life she used to live. She has been through so much with the Onyx pack and she has no idea what happened to her because she has no memories of what went down. She is in a state of loss but she does know one thing her ability is scary so she must never ever touch anyone or else they will transfer there deep dark secrets and pain onto her and she does not want that. She knows the Onyx pack is bad but she is not sure what happened to her but she knows one thing she feels a connection to Keegan and as time passes by she needs him like she needs air to breathe. Then Keegan accidentally touches her and the gloves are off. But Addy still fears the Onyx pack and wonders what the leader is going to do to her.

Are Keegan and Addy safe? Only time will tell...............

Excerpt:

He stepped closer and studied her as she turned back to the omelet. Keegan ground his molars, took a deep breath, and calmly asked, “Do you like it here?”

She peered back at him, her eyebrows bunched together before she smoothed out her features in that practiced control she used around others. “It’s not home, but it’s nice. I don’t need much, Keegan.”

He took another step toward her. She turned the stove off and handed Will his plate. The boy stood, watching Keegan as if he would harm Addyson. It made Keegan proud of the kid that he’d want to protect Addyson.

Without looking at the teen, Keegan said, “Will, take your breakfast in the living room and eat before it gets cold.”

From the corner of his eye, Keegan saw Will peer at Addyson. When she gave him a nod, he left them alone. Keegan took another step forward, stopping inches from her. He heard her heart beat speed up and smelled her strawberry scent intensify, but not in fear. She was turned on by his presence.

He inhaled deeply, taking in her scent. His leopard rubbed up against his chest, trying to feel Addyson. He’d never imagine in the past thirty-seven years that he’d find another mate. Then Addyson stumbled into his life about twelve years after losing Cate. He wasn’t ready then, the pain still too raw to see what the leopard tried to make him see.

He’d finally started to accept it, accept the fact that Addyson has a place in his heart and in his bed.

Guest Post:

I’m a control freak, yet I have no control when writing.

You can only image how that works out. Actually it’s not as bad as it sounds. I have learned to let my characters take over when I sit down to write. After all it is their story. The real challenge is to keep the analytical side of my brain from butting in. I try to edit as I go and that slows down the writing process. But I’m getting better at turning off that internal editor.

This is the case no matter what I write. However, each series and each story is a little different. The first four stories in the Ashwood Falls series (including the prequel) I outlined and knew how it ended before writing the first chapters. This helped balance the two sides of my brain so my muse was able to write without interference from the internal editor, too much.

Then I started writing Divided Loyalties. The first two outlines didn’t work and finally had to start pantzing the thing and work off hand written notes until about chapter 5. Only then was I able to summarize the ending.

Why, you ask? Hayden and Christa had two different directions they wanted to go in. And it wasn’t anything I thought it would be. You see, I’m never fully in control of the stories, the characters are. The more I let them tell their story, the happier we all are.
