Book Description:
WHY CAN’T I BE YOU takes its name from a 1987 hit song from English rock band The Cure. All her life, Jenny Shaw toed the line, striving to be the perfect colleague, girlfriend, and daughter – a path that has led her to an unhappy (though successful) career, a failed relationship, and all-but-severed family ties. On her way to the airport for her first business trip, she is unceremoniously dumped by the man she thought she would one day marry. In her haze of shock and confusion, she responds to the wrong name when Myra Aberly, organizer of Seattle ’s Mt. Si class of 1999’s thirteenth high-school reunion, shouts “Jessie!” across the hotel lobby.

In an instant, Jenny Shaw becomes Jessie Morgan, a woman to whom she bears an uncanny resemblance. She is immediately embraced by Jessie’s warm circle of friends – and gains a possible love interest. But when Jenny becomes more and more curious about Jessie’s history, she uncovers a trail of secrets, pain and deceit that inspires her to uncover the truth that will heal her own painful past.

My Review

5 of 5 Why Can't I Be You

Why Can't I Be You is such a great read. I want to thank Plume and ATOMR Tours for allowing me to be on this tour. I have read a lot books this year and this is one of my top favorites. I laughed so hard reading this story. Can you imagine wanting to be someone else and getting that chance to actually do it? Would you do it? Everyone has at one time or another wished they were someone else and somewhere else. WCIBY is one of those stories that grabs you right from the first page and keeps you going until the end.

For Jenny Shaw she has lived a simple life. She does everything that is expected of her and one day while out she here's someone screaming Jessie and she answers to it. This is when everything changes for Jenny. She becomes Jessie and gains these awesome friends Robbie, Myra, Heather, and Fish. While hanging out with her new friends and living her new identity Jenny learns lots of things she never knew and she even starts to have feelings for one of the friends.

The only thing is Jenny dreads having to tell her new friends that she is not Jessie but she is Jenny. She is not sure how they are going to handle that and she does not want to lose her new friends. What will Fish think when he realizes he has been hanging with a fraud? This is a story that was funny and both sad because Jenny wanted to be someone else but she did not realize the things that came with that and once the dust settled Jenny had a reality check.

This is a must read for everyone who loves funny romantic stories and life lessons learned stories!
